Select Board · Meeting of August 25, 2026

Stow Select Board approved a 154-acre liquor license expansion for Wedgwood Country Club despite lingering noise complaints. The board voted 5-0 by roll call to alter the club's premises description to cover its patio, snack shack, tiki bar, pool and entire 18-hole golf course, following a contested public hearing. Member Brian Patuto said he was pleased owners "took their medicine" after a prior three-day alcohol-service suspension for noise and fireworks violations.

Attorney John McDermott, representing Dunster Drive abutters, argued "the board may well be remiss" in excluding noise events permitted by other boards from its reputation review. The board also unanimously signed a proclamation marking the 100th anniversary of Mapledale Country Club, founded in 1926 by Black golf pioneer Robert Hawkins, and heard a police proposal to build a firearms range for under $1,000 after Maynard began charging the department $500 per day.
