Stow Select Board approves $250,000 Masters Academy payment, veterans banners

Stow Select Board accepts $250,000 from Masters Academy, launches veterans banner program. The board voted unanimously to accept the payment under the school's development agreement and to create linked gift accounts, though Town Administrator Denise Dembkoski said sidewalk funds must still go through a special town meeting warrant article. Rich O'Dell of Masters Academy International said the school expects roughly 275 students from 27 or 28 states for its September 15 opening.
The board also approved, 4-0, a Hometown Heroes banner program honoring 52 Stow residents killed in action, with banners costing $250 each along Route 117. Separately, the board authorized Dembkoski to negotiate a memorandum of understanding with GZA covering truck routes for a 950-cubic-yard PFAS soil remediation at the Department of Fire Services, in lieu of requiring a formal earth removal permit, specifying trucks "stays on State Road in either direction and does not travel on Sudbury Road."
