Stow launches Hometown Heroes veteran banner program

The Town of Stow announced Oct. 27 the launch of the Hometown Heroes program, which will place tribute banners honoring local veterans along Route 117.

The program uses Military Tribute Banners, a company that handles the application and production process. Each banner will feature the veteran's photo, name, branch, rank at separation and dates of service on a patriotic background. The same image will appear on both sides of the banner so it is visible to drivers and pedestrians.

Sponsoring a banner costs $250, payable by check or online with a debit or credit card. Checks should be made payable to the Town of Stow and mailed to the Administration Office, Room 202, 380 Great Road, Stow, MA 01775. The town is also accepting donations to the program, payable the same way.

To qualify, a service member must have lived in Stow during their time of enlistment, or must currently reside in Stow for at least five years. Exceptions to that criteria will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Residents with questions can email the town at [email protected].
