Nashoba School Committee Approves $253,895 Budget Shift

School Committee · Meeting of October 7, 2026

STOW — Nashoba Regional School Committee approved a $253,895 FY27 budget shift and opened debate on a new campus immigration-enforcement policy. The panel voted 8-0, clearing the two-thirds threshold needed, to raise Chapter 70 Education Aid to $11,025,818 and cut the excess-and-deficiency appropriation to $920,730. Superintendent Downing announced Principal Sean O'Shea will retire after 17 years, with an administrator calling him "a truly tremendous individual, educator, mentor and friend." Director of Nursing Tina Rosack walked members through a revised medication policy requiring a 911 call after every EpiPen use, saying "anytime you give an EpiPen, you call 911," and detailed new rules for delegating naloxone and seizure-medication administration to trained staff.

The committee also reviewed a new policy, built around the state's PROTECT Act, requiring a judicial warrant before civil law enforcement can access school grounds. A draft October 1 count put districtwide enrollment at 2,935 students.
