Stow Conservation Commission unanimously approves five-year Order of Conditions for pond herbicide management. The Commission issued the order for 137 Barton Road authorizing monthly monitoring and herbicide application to treat invasive duckweed covering nearly 100 percent of the pond, with treatment limited to no more than 30 percent of the pond surface at any time in compliance with DEP and EPA requirements. Conservation Director Jacquie Goring noted that treatment will improve photosynthetic activity and benefit native pondweed growth.
The Commission also unanimously voted to support a $400,000 Community Preservation Act application for the Randall Woods Wetland Restoration seeking construction funding for public access features including boardwalks, bridges, and trail connections.
