Stow Confirms Level 3 Critical Drought Status Remains in Effect

STOW — The town is operating under a Level 3 Critical Drought declaration, according to the alert currently posted on the town's official website, as officials continue several infrastructure notices around town this month.

Stow's website lists a Level 3 Critical Drought designation among its active alerts, the town's highest published tier of water-restriction status. The town has not detailed specific new restrictions beyond the designation itself; residents can find current guidance through the town's Alert Center.

The town also has a road-closure notice in effect for Barton Road, according to the website, and the Crescent Street sidewalk project, which began construction the week of July 2, continues as crews build new sidewalks along the corridor. Separately, the town highlighted 25 years of Community Preservation Act funding in Stow, pointing residents to a rundown of projects the program has supported locally, and published its July 2026 Municipal Message newsletter with updates from Town Hall.

COMING UP

Several town boards meet in the week ahead. The Community Preservation Committee meets Monday, July 20, followed by the Planning Board on Tuesday, July 21. The Zoning Board of Appeals is scheduled for Thursday, July 23, and the Select Board holds an executive session on Monday, July 27.
