Stow Activates Cooling Center as Extreme Heat Warning Extends Through July 4 Weekend

An extreme heat warning stretching through the Fourth of July holiday weekend is the top story out of Stow this Tuesday, with town officials urging residents to take advantage of cooling resources while also releasing the July Municipal Message.

With an extreme heat warning in effect through the holiday weekend, the town has activated its Cooling Center and is directing residents to information about where to find relief. The alert, posted Tuesday afternoon, applies to the remainder of this week and continues through the Independence Day weekend. Residents can find locations and hours at the town's Cooling Center Information page (https://www.stow-ma.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?aid=106).

Separately, the town published the July 2026 Stow Municipal Message, the monthly newsletter summarizing town-wide news and department updates. The July edition is available on the town's website at https://www.stow-ma.gov/Archive.aspx?ADID=143.

Also noted on the town homepage: a Level 3 Critical Drought designation remains in effect for Stow. Residents can review current drought restrictions and guidance on the town's Drought Information webpage.

COMING UP

Town offices will be closed Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day. The Lake Boon Commission holds its next regular meeting Thursday, July 2. The Green Advisory Committee and the Historical Commission are both scheduled to meet Thursday, July 9.
