Planning Board Continues Hemenway Farm Hearing to April
Planning Board · Meeting of January 6, 2026
Stow Planning Board postpones final vote on Hemenway Farm subdivision and conservation development. The Board continued the public hearing for the 24-lot project off Walcott Street to April 7, 2026, directing staff to consult the Department of Public Works, Police, and the Board's consulting engineer on whether a traffic study is necessary before ruling on the applicant's waiver request. The developer, Bentley Building Corp, revised plans to shift the proposed roadway 110 feet east to avoid a trichloroethylene plume and designated one contaminated lot for retention until site cleanup reaches state standards.
A three-unit affordable-housing triplex at 45 Walcott Street will connect to the main development by walking trail. The Board approved waivers for cul-de-sac length, street trees, and Walcott Street sidewalk construction, citing physical constraints and existing features.
