STOW — The Stow Finance Committee opened budget season with a six-week sprint, establishing meetings through April 1st and approving Tom Farnsworth as the new Finance Committee representative to the Community Preservation Committee. Town Administrator Denise Dembkoski reported the town faces a difficult capital year with many expensive items pending, including a reported $3.5 million roof project for Hale School that committee members questioned as potentially excessive. Dembkoski said approximately $800,000 in free cash is available, with larger items such as a fire engine to be financed through borrowing.
The preliminary Minuteman Regional Technical School budget assessment came in 5.6 percent lower than FY26.
